What is the right level of Buildings cover?
There are two ways of assessing the level of cover required. Firstly, if you have a mortgage the Lender will have carried out a valuation of the property and recommended a minimum sum insured. Secondly, you can ask for advice. The Insurance industry has published guidelines with regards to rebuild costs which we can reference.
What should your contents be insured for?
Most policies come with a fixed sum insured of £30,000 to £50,000 which is usually adequate for most family homes. However some contents will require specialist appraisal and you should obtain a detailed item by item costing. By taking photographs of individual items you will have a valuable record, should the worst happen. Having a visual record can also speed up the claims process.
Stay protected; keep your details up to date
We pride ourselves on our service and will ask you annually to confirm the level of cover required. Circumstances change, you could receive an inheritance, buy an expensive Mountain Bike, be given some valuable Jewellery, etc.
The right insurance when you need it
Insurance can never fully compensate for the loss of a cherished home
or valued possession but it can help reduce the distress, providing the
correct level of cover has been secured.
